Hi. I am a member of CAI Cuneo branch. In my email newsletter this week it says:
“The storm of June 30, 2025, which caused the closure of the Colle della Maddalena, caused serious damage to the path network that affects the Oronaye node/head of the Maira and Stura valleys / Mount Scaletta / Roburent lakes. The rains of exceptional intensity have caused landslides and erosions, so some stretches of paths are currently unwalkable or in any case dangerous. Before starting crossings it is important to inquire locally at the Municipalities or Refuges”.
(I am walking south to north and had already passed through the area at this time so I cannot give any first hand details. I think it’ll be ok on the GTA route as this goes slightly to the south of the area described. But best to ask at Rifugio Campo Base).
